The Integrative IBD Institute at Legacy Health was created with a vision for the advancement of integrative IBD treatments utilizing a holistic methodology. Our goal is to uncover the root causes of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and treat these at the deepest level. These investigations include delineation of the balance of the microbiome, gastrointestinal barrier integrity, and immune system activity. Our approach is based on accumulating research data that shows that integrative functional medicine methods of treatment can be effective regardless of whether a person is already receiving conventional allopathic medical therapies, including biologic agents. The goal of the Integrative IBD team is to optimize each person's quality of life by addressing the health of the soul, mind, and body while integrating the best of conventional treatments with the best of nutritional, natural, and alternative therapies. This program is targeted to all those with Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, microscopic colitis, IBD-associated small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), and pouchitis.
